I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! We have just four weeks before we are out for the Christmas/Winter break! Most classes are caught up and will have a quiet week, but if we intend to be ready for our field trip in Art History we need to keep reading, and we need to set up the DVD-ROM and get that 2011-2012 yearbook finished in Publications & Media!
Advanced Composition: Reminder, the Definition paper is due on Thursday, November 29th! This week we turn to chapter 13: “Argument—Convincing Others.” We will begin with the rational appeal, then the emotional appeal, and we will finish up on Friday with the Ethical appeal and a discussion of logical fallacies. Additionally, we will be reading two selections from our reader: “Yes, Don't Impede Medical Progress,” and “A Journalist's View of Black Economics,” so please remember to bring your textbook to class each day!
- Mannerist Painting in Italy 1
- Mannerism 2: The Medici and the French Kings
- Mannerist Sculpture in Italy
- Painting in Venice: Tintoretto and Veronese
- Art in Spain: El Greco
- Forward and Map
- Michaelangelo da Caravaggio
- Caravaggio: The Conversion of Saint Paul
- The Carracci and their Pupils
- The High Baroque in Rome
Creative Writing: Don’t forget to keep up with the reading and practice assignments in Wild Mind for this week:
- “The Dead Year”
- “Another Arm Moving”
- “Wanting it Bad” and its related “Try This”
Fundamentals of Composition: We are ahead of schedule, so we will have a writing workshop week. You may work on reading and reading journals [which will be collected soon, hint... hint... ] or on your Illustration paper, due on Monday, December 3rd. Start looking for a book that you would like to read for the final assignment, if you have not already chosen one.
Publications and Media: We need to finish the yearbook for 2011-2012, and then burn this to DVD-ROM for Friday, November 30th, if at all possible! We also need to start thinking about a theme for the 2012-2013 yearbook!
Have a great week!
