This week our discussion will focus on literary elements in this book. You need to answer the questions below with specific examples/information from the book for your first post. For your second post, you need to respond to a classmate with questions or suggestions that will move the discussion forward; do not just agree or disagree!
You have read 1/2 to 3/4 of this novel so far, so you should be able to respond with SPECIFIC information to support your answer. As always, spelling and grammar errors will cost you points, so a good strategy to follow is to create your answer in a Word/Open Office text document and then spell check it before copying and pasting your answer into the blog.
Last week we looked at the exposition [How did Lou and Oz come to live with their great grandparents in the mountains of southwest Virginia?] and the setting [How does this community differ from their former home?]. This week we will look at the rising action and conflict[s] in the novel...
- Name one of the conflicts you feel is developing in the novel. What leads to this conflict?
- How does this conflict unfold, and how are the major characters affected?
As always, your first post must be made by midnight on Thursday, and your second post must be made by midnight on Saturday to be considered as "on time."
