It’s hard to believe, but this is the last week in February!

Class of 2019:  Don't forget that you have a presentation to do for Black History Month on Friday!

American Literature: In Early American Literature 1700-1820: An Expanding World Leads to an Enlightenment, A Great Awakening, and a National Identity, we will be reading some excerpts from Olaudah Equiano and John de Crevecoeur.  Please be ready to present your tombstones and obituaries on Friday the 26th!

Art History II:  This week we continue with The Age of Revolutions with two documentaries and a reading selection:
  • Goya, Crazy Like a Genius
  • Romantic Landscapes in Britain and America
  • Simon Schama’s Power of Art: “Turner” [DVD]
Depending on the time we have available, we may substitute the commercial film on Turner for the documentary as it is quite well done.

Poetry & Nonfiction:  This week we will begin reading Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard.  This is an observational account of her time at Tinker Creek, and our reading will culminate with each of you writing a sonnet based on one of the chapters in the book.  Don’t forget, we have Poetry Friday this week, and each of you needs to bring SEVENTEEN copies of the three poems you have chosen to share with the class.

Shakespeare's Tragedies and Histories:  This week we continue with our reading of Macbeth.  Don't forget that your Scrap It! assignment for Romeo and Juliet is due on Wednesday the 24th!
