We have representatives from two colleges/universities visiting with us this week:
- Tuesday, the 31st, Sharita Mitchell will be here to talk to us about The University of Mary Washington.
- Thursday, the 2nd, Lily will be here to talk to us about Earlham College.
Class of 2019--we have our November breakfast this Friday. I am already planning on making your favorite meatballs! Check Jupiter to see what you have signed up to bring.
Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM the Fall Sports Banquet will be held in the Wilson Center. See Teacher Danny for additional information.
Menus for the lunch offerings can be downloaded at the right. The Class of 2018 will have lunch available from Taste Unlimited on Mondays; The Class of 2020 offers lunch from SaladWorks on Tuesdays; the Class of 2019 offers lunch from Tropical Smoothie on Wednesdays; and the Class of 2018 offers lunch from Firehouse Subs on Thursdays. Students may order pizza through the main office for lunch on Fridays.
Advanced Composition: Please remember to bring a book to read for SSR, your textbook, and your CHARGED ChromeBook to class each day! We will be looking at Chapter 12: “Definition—Establishing Boundaries. Please read this before class! During Writing Workshop time you may work on your I-Search Project. The topic, part I, and part II are due on Friday, November 10th! Note: journal entries are due by 4:00 on Friday.
American Short Story: We will continue with the second unit, the 1950s and 1960s with two stories:
- “A & P”
- “The Sky is Gray”
Art History I: This week we are a bit ahead and will have an easy week with one film:
- The Agony and the Ecstasy
Fundamentals of Composition: Reminder: the descriptive essay is due on Friday, November 3rd! Please remember to bring a book to read for SSR. You also need to bring Strategies for Successful Writing and your CHARGED ChromeBook to class EVERY day. This week we look at Chapter 8: “Illustration: Making Yourself Clear.” During writing workshop, you will have a chance to work on your descriptive essays. Note: your journal entries are due by 4:00 on Friday this week.
The Word I—the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible: We got a little behind with the Glogsters, so first we will finish watching Samson and Delilah, and then we will move on to Unit Five: Kingdom and Exile with another film:

This is the first week of the second quarter, and it is an A week as we did not have classes on Monday due to conferences. Progress Reports for the first quarter should be online for you by the end of the week.
