American Literature: We will be looking at the poetry of Emily Dickinson [1197-1225] this week, finishing up literature from 1820 to 1865. Next we move on to the post Civil War era, 1865-1914: The Transformation of a Nation—American Realism

Contemporary Fiction: This week we are working on Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress. You need to read Part One [through page 41] in order to respond to the journal prompt for this week.
Shakespeare's Comedies and Poetry: Reminder--The Merchant of Venice biopoems are due on Wednesday the 19th [block 4] and Thursday the 20th [block 6]. This week we are reading out The Taming of the Shrew.
World Literature: The Zaabalawi assignment is due Wednesday, April 19th. This week we continue with our theme of Home Invaded by Other with Kojima Nobuo's” The American School” (2896-2919). Due to Field Day,we probably will not get to Giovanni Boccaccio's The Decameron [1142-1165].
