Remember, we have only two days of classes this week—Monday and Tuesday, and the Thanksgiving feast is on Tuesday, beginning at about 10:45.
Advanced Composition: As an introduction to our study of Argument, we will read the text of Martin Luther King's speech “I Have A Dream” and discuss the techniques needed to craft an argument when the audience will hear the text rather than reading it for themselves. Because many of you will be traveling or having company for the holidays, the due date for Description paper has been extended to Thursday, November 29th.
Art History: Because of the fire drill last week, we will finish up Episode 5: “Realms of Light: The Baroque” from Art of the Western World: Art History from Ancient Greece to Andy Warhol. Reminder, your assignment on Reading a Work of Art which resulted from our visit to the Virginia Museum of Fine Art is due on Thursday, November 29th.
Creative Writing: This week you should be working on the following sections from Wild Mind:
- “Step Forward”
- “Positive Effort””Because” and its related “Try This”
- “Very and Really” and its related “Try This”
Film as Literature: We will be working on Chapter Five: “Acting.” The quiz for this chapter is now scheduled for Friday, November 30th.
Fundamentals of Composition: Because of the holiday, I will extend the due date for the Illustration paper to Monday, December 3rd. We will spend time this week working on that assignment.
Publications & Media: Don't forget, we are trying to get everything done on the 2011-2012 yearbook so that we can get this burned to DVD-ROM and packaged up for distribution next week! We also need to get pictures of the Thanksgiving Feast for the 2012-2013 yearbook.
Have a wonderful holiday!
