Advisory: Don't forget that this week we have the annual Book and Giving Fair where the US Activities Committee will be running the café and bake sale along with the Holiday Workshop where younger students will have an opportunity to make gifts for those o their shopping lists.. We will also be selling tickets for the Norfolk Botanical Gardens' Garden of Lights, so PLEASE sign up to help out and to bring baked goodies. We cannot do this without everyone's help, and that includes YOU! Because of the Book Fair, we will have the all Upper School Holiday Breakfast on Friday, December 9th instead of our monthly breakfast this Friday.
Advanced Composition: We will be looking at Chapter 13, “Argument: Convincing Others” this week, so please be sure to bring your textbooks to class along with the book you are reading for SSR. The argument essay will be due on December 21st (the day before the break), so make a not of this so that you do not get behind!
American Short Story: The Response Paper for Unit 2 is due Wednesday, November 30th! Please check your syllabus for the paper requirements. We will continue with Unit 3: Literature from the 1970s and 1980s this week.
Fundamentals of Composition: Your Illustration paper is due on Thursday, December 1st! This week is set aside for writing workshop time. Please bring your rough drafts for peer review and a book to read for SSR. You may want to get started on the book you plan to use for the final assignment....
Publications and Media: We need to get the posters for the Garden of Lights tickets sales finished and hung, and we need to get the flyers distributed. Additionally, this would be a good week to get more pictures for your yearbook pages!
Public Speaking: Josh will present Chapter 12: “Informative Speaking,” and we will review your PowerPoint presentation skills in preparation for an informative speech you will present on December 7th.
Science Fiction and Fantasy: Evan, don't forget that your first response paper is due on Friday, December 9th! Refer to the Response Paper 1 assignment sheet for specific details concerning this paper.
The Word: We will read the Unit Five Feature: “Exile and Return” before viewing One Night with the King, so you will need your books on Tuesday.
