Our monthly Advisory breakfast was a special one in this month. All four Advisories joined together for a presentation on Spirit Rising before sharing breakfast together. Then we drew names for Upper School Secret Santa/Hanukkah Harry/Kwanzaa Kevin/Bodhi Ben/Ramadan Ralphie/Yule Yorick/Divali Dennis. Don't forget, participants should have a small gift for their recipients on Tuesday, December 9th and Friday December 12th. Please remember that you are supposed to be keeping your person's name a SECRET!
Advanced Composition: On Friday I will meet with each of you individually to see how your I-Search is going. On Monday and Wednesday we will be reading three more examples of argument essays:
- “Crossing Lines”
- “The Misguided Zeal of the Privacy Lobby”
- “Halt and Show Your Papers”
- “Give us Your Best, You Brightest”
Advanced Placement Calculus AB: Please be sure that you are where you need to be in this online class! You may want to use Khan Academy to reinforce any concepts you are having trouble with! If you have tests scheduled, you MUST be ready to take these on time on the days when your class is scheduled with me!
Advanced Placement English Language and Composition: Please be sure that you are where you need to be in this online class as there is LOTS of reading to do!
Advanced Placement Psychology: Please be sure that you are where you need to be in this online class! If you have tests scheduled, you MUST be ready to take these on time on days when your class is scheduled with me!

Creative Writing: Your response to last week's class prompt, to respond to “Going Home,” one of the essays in Writing Down the Bones, is due on Monday, December 8th. Remember, this should be typewritten, double-spaced, and “ready” for publication! This week, you will be reading the following in Writing Down the Bones:
- “The Goody-Two-Shoes Nature”
- “No Hindrances”
- “A Meal You Love”
- “Use Loneliness”
Film as Literature: Your Chapter 6: Editing crossword puzzle quiz was rescheduled to Monday the 8th, so be prepared for this—know the vocabulary and the definitions! We will continue with our screening of Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest. Reminder: the Screening Worksheet for chapter 6 [Vertigo and North by Northwest] is due on Friday, December 12th. We will be looking at Chapter 7: “Sound” once we finish with North by Northwest.
Fundamentals of Composition: We will be reading Chapter 19: “writing About Literature” in preparation for the final project, a Literature Project [see the handout for this for specifics]. Hopefully you have already selected a novel for this assignment! Remember, your Comparison essay is due on Thursday, December 18th, and we should have some time to work on this during class too.
Mystery Fiction: Remember, our class discussion takes place on our class blog; each of you must post one original comment in response to my prompt, and then each of you should respond to someone else's post if you are to earn full credit for this course requirement! Please be sure that you are posting to the correct blog entry for full credit! I am deducting points for spelling and grammar mistakes, and for obvious vague entries that you are posting when you have NOT read all of the required pages, so be mindful of this as you post! We have begun our final novel, A Morbid Taste for Bones. Hopefully you will find this one easier to read! You need to be finished with this book by December 17th as the postcards from Medieval Britain are due on December 18th! So, you definitely need to be reading during the time I give you for this in class!
This is an A week.
