Seniors, watch your application deadlines. In case you hadn’t noticed, January 1st will come and go while we are on break, and I will not be available to do an “emergency” transcript request when you realize that you are going to miss a deadline! LACK OF PLANNING ON YOUR PART DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN EMERGENCY ON MY PART!
Advanced Composition: This week we will look at Chapter 20: "Business Letters, Memos, and Resumes." You will also have time to work on your own resume [due on Thursday, the 14th], and your I-Search project [due on Thursday the 14th], and the I-Search presentation [due Friday the 15th].
American Short Story: We will continue with Unit 4 with three reading selections:
- “This is What it Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona”
- “The Intruder”
Art History I: The Chrysler Museum of Art assignment is due this week on the 7th! Do NOT forget to send this to me BEFORE class so that we can get through all of these and finish on time!
Fundamentals of Composition: This is a workshop week for us as we look at Chapter 22: “Documenting Sources” and working on the literature project which is due next week on the 13th. Please do NOT forget to bring a book to read and your journal for SSR. You lose points when you do not bring a book or your journal.
Science Fiction/Fantasy: We need to finish The Naked Sun this week. I will have your blog assignment up by Wednesday afternoon, and you will need to respond by FRIDAY midnight for your first response, and by Sunday midnight for your response to a classmate. The Postcards from Solaria will be due on Wednesday the 13th, and you will have a final blog entry to do next week as well.
The Word: This week we will begin One night with a King which is the story of Esther, one of the women of valor in the Old Testament.
ONLINE CLASSES: Please make sure you are on track! I will be unavailable after lunch on most Thursdays for the next several months, and Fridays could be “iffy” as well, so please plan accordingly!
I hope you have returned to school well-rested and ready to finish up the first semester! I will have second semester course selections available for you next Tuesday during Meeting for Business!
This is an A week.
