The different classes are slowly getting lunch offerings organized. The Class of 2019 has cheese and pepperoni pizza available from Papa John's on Fridays for $1.50 a slice. This may be pre-ordered on Friday mornings during Advisory. Please check with the other classes to see what will be offered this year and when those lunches will start being available.
Advanced Composition: Please remember to bring When the Emperor was Divine AND Strategies for Successful Writing to class each day. Don't forget, this year we are doing the reading journals electronically in Google Docs, so this week's entry must be made [and shared with me] by Friday. If you have finished When the Emperor was Divine, you will need to bring another book to read. Once we finish with The Wonder Boys, we will be reviewing chapters 1-4 in the Strategies book.
Art History I: Plese be sure that you have read page 13 before we meet again... We will continue with Ancient Worlds, reading the following chapters this week [includes a few from week 3, if we have time]:
- African Art I: Prehistoric and Historic
- African Art 2: Tribal
- Pre-Columbian Art
- A Tlingit House Post
- Oceanic Art
- Egyptian Art I: The Old Kingdom
- Egyptian Art II: The New Kingdom
Remember, the Picture It assignment is due on Friday, September 16th, and you MUST email me the picture the night before—the 15th—as an attachment so that we have these to share with the class!
Film as Literature: Reminder, please be sure that you have read through Chapter 1 as we will go over this after we finish watching Spirited Away!
Fundamentals of Composition: Please do NOT forget to bring The Alchemist [or another book to read for SSR if you have already finished it] and Strategies for Successful Writing to class EVERY day. Once we finish Finding Forrester, we will go over the notes for Chapter 1: “Writing, a First Look,” so please be sure that you have read through the chapter before class on Wednesday. This week you will need to make an entry into your electronic journal [Google Docs] before the end of the day on Friday in order to be considered completed on time. You may want to get this done before Friday so that we can fix any glitches during school hours!
Mystery Fiction: Keep reading The Crocodile on the Sandbank. We will be talking about how to participate in the class blog, and I have the first blog post up bfor you--PLEASE read the directions on the sidebar before posting! You will need to make your original response to my post by Thursday at midnight and the follow-up response to a classmate by Saturday at midnight. I hope you are enjoying the adventures of Amelia Peabody! She is quite the character!
Advanced Placement Biology: Please make sure you can log in and access the pacing guide for the class; remember, regardless of whether or not WE have school, Virtual Virginia is available, and you may have assignments due!
