Advanced Composition: We will continue with WonderBoys and then quickly review Chapters 1-4 in preparation for learning additional writing strategies this year. Please remember to bring When the Emperor was Divine and your journal to class each day for SSR. The critique for WtEwD is not due until Thursday, October 1st, but the time will pass quickly, and I do not want you to be rushed!
American Short Story: We will begin our first unit, Literature from the 1920s to the 1940s this week with the following short stories:

Art History I: Have you found a picture yet for the Picture It! assignment? Just a reminder, it is due on Thursday, September 17th. This week we will continue with Ancient Worlds:
- "African Art I: Prehistoric and Historic"
- "African Art II: Tribal"
- "Pre-Columbian Art"
- "A Tlingit House Post"
- "Oceanic Art"
- "Egyptian Art I: The Old Kingdom"
- "Egyptian Art II: The New Kingdom"
Fundamentals of Composition: We will continue with Finding Forrester as our introduction to the writing process and the two most important considerations for our writing this semester:
- Who is your audience?
- What is your purpose?
Science Fiction and Fantasy: We have watched a classic fantasy, now we will look at a class Science Fiction story: The Time Machine. We will also discuss the postcard assignment that you will be doing for each book. You have your copies of Ender's Game, and you need to be consistent with your reading; your first post response is due by Thursday at midnight!
The Word--The Old Testament in Art, History, Literature, Music, and Culture: We will finish Walking the Bible and then read Unit 1, Introduction, in out textbook"
