Advanced Composition: The Classification paper is due on Friday, October 9th! Please remember to bring a book to read for SSR to class each day. Also, you should be bringing your writer's daybook/journal to class and making at least one entry per week during SSR. Art History I: This week we continue our study of Medieval and Early Renaissance Art. We will begin with The Dark Ages: An Age of Light, Episode 4: '”The Men of the North” before reading several chapters in our textbook:
- Carolingian and Ottonian Art
- Romanesque Sculpture
- Giselbertus: the Sculpture at Autun
- Romanesque Painting
- Gothic Art in Northern Europe
Fundamentals of Composition: Reminder: your critique for The Alchemist is due on Wednesday, October 7th! Please do NOT forget to bring a book to read for SSR and Strategies for Successful Writing to class EVERY day. When you don't, you lose points from your participation grade.... We will move on to Chapter 5: “Narration, Relating Events” this week, so please skim this chapter before class!
Science Fiction/Fantasy: We are reading Frank Herbert's Dune, and I urge you to keep a steady pace as this is a long and somewhat complex book. I will have your new blog post up by Monday afternoon, and then you will need to make your original post by Thursday at midnight and the follow-up response to a classmate by Saturday at midnight.
The Word--The Old Testament: We will finish watching Abraham—The Bible Collection and then watch Joseph: King of Dreams before returning to the textbook for Unit 4: Exodus and the Land of Promise

This is our first B week of the year, but since we have a noon dismissal on Friday, Blocks 7 and 8 will only meet twice this week!
