Advisory: Don't forget to sign up for ticket sales this week; we need people to handle ticket pre-sales before and after school. We are in charge of the bake sale at the carnival, so plan to make and bring some goodies and help me handle the crowds! The money we raise from this bake sale (and the one at the Christmas Book and Giving Fair) supports the US Activities Committee which covers many of the expenses for Prom and other US activities, so please support this fundraiser!
Advanced Composition: We will review Chapter 22 on documenting sources as part of the I-Search project. Don't forget--your Cause and Effect essays are due on Wednesday, October 26th! Please review the format requirements for this assignment before turning it in... Double space!
American Short Story: We will continue reading short fiction form the 1950s and 1960s and watch a short film version of Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron." Response Paper 1 (literature from the 1920s to the 1940s) is due Wednesday, October 26th!
Fundamentals of Composition: We will work on Chapter 7, "Process Analysis," this week. Just a reminder that your descriptive essays are due Thursday, November 3rd.
Publications and Media: Continue working on your PR campaigns. Do you have a client selected yet???? The due date for this will be here before you know it!
Public Speaking: On Monday we will finish the Audience Analysis assignment presentations--these were due two weeks ago, so excuses on this are wearing a bit thin.... Since we covered Chapter 8 "Outlining your Speech" on Friday, we have made a little room in out schedule, and after the presentations are finished, we will watch The King's Speech.
The Word--The Old Testament: The Ten Commandments Glogsters are due on Friday, October 28th. We will continue watching The Ten Commandments (1956) this week.
College Counseling: We have college admissions representatives visiting us this week from Meredith College and High Point University. Do not forget that the Virginia Beach City Public Schools offers the annual College Information Night at the Virginia Beach Convention Center this Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:00 with Financial Aid seminars at 6:00 and 7:00. This is free and open to everyone, so plan to attend!
Have a great week!
